How we calculate payouts
Polymarket sells outcome shares between $0.01 and $0.99. Each share pays exactly $1 if its outcome resolves true, and $0 if it resolves false. The calculator on this page applies these formulas:
- Shares bought = stake Γ· share price
- Payout if you win = shares bought Γ $1
- Profit if you win = payout β stake
- Loss if you lose = your full stake
- Decimal odds = 1 Γ· share price
- American odds = +((1 β p) / p) Γ 100 when p < 0.5, else β(p / (1 β p)) Γ 100
- Implied probability = share price Γ 100%
Real fills depend on the order book, available liquidity, and any fees charged by the venue. The calculator uses the current mid-price as a quick estimate, not a quoted execution price.

Tax treatment: Winnings from CFTC-regulated prediction markets are reported as ordinary income. Kalshi issues a Form 1099-B automatically; Polymarket US does not, so users must self-report gains from resolved contracts. Consult a tax professional for your specific situation.

The resolution source for this market will be CDC FluView / FluSurv-NET (see: https://www.cdc.gov/fluview/index.html). If the FluSurv-NET hospitalization rate for the specified week is not released by 11:59 PM ET on the tenth calendar day following the date of the prior FluView weekly report release, this market will resolve to the lowest bracket.
CDC FluView reports the weekly FluSurv-NET hospitalization rate per 100,000 population to one decimal point (e.g., 0.1). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market.
Note: Only the CDC FluSurv-NET weekly hospitalization rate per 100,000 population for the specified week will qualify, regardless of the cumulative influenza-associated hospitalization rate, estimates, projections, state-level reports, or other influenza surveillance metrics published by the CDC or other sources.
